ZG Earthquake Info Cooperation
The ZG Earthquake Info Cooperation project was designed with the goal of contributing to the development and improvement of the civil protection system in response to an earthquake in the area of the city of Zagreb through:
- strengthening of interinstitutional cooperation, exchange of opinions and examples from practice encouraged by the organization of a round table for representatives of operational forces of the civil protection system, city offices, and the interested academic community whose conclusions will be formed into a manual with recommendations and
- educating citizens through an online lecture and four workshops for elementary school students on the topic of earthquakes, how they occur, how much threat to lives they pose, how to prepare for an earthquake, and how to behave at the moment and immediately after an earthquake.
Target users
- representatives of the operational forces of the civil protection system (Civil Protection of the City of Zagreb, City Society of the Red Cross Zagreb, Croatian Mountain Rescue Service: Station Zagreb, Public Fire Department of the City of Zagreb…),
- representatives of the City offices (Protection and Rescue Sector of the City of Zagreb, City Office for Reconstruction, Development, Physical Planning, Construction, Utility Services and Transport, City Office for Local Self-Administration, Civil Protection and Safety, City Institute for Cultural and Natural Heritage Conservation, City Office for Economy, Environmental Sustainability and Strategic Planning…),
- interested academic community (Faculty of Civil Engineering, Geophysics Department of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics in Zagreb…),
- citizens of the city of Zagreb,
- elementary school students,
- volunteers (students).
Expected results of the project
- round table successfully held as a platform for interinstitutional cooperation, exchange of opinions and examples from practice with the aim of contributing to the development and improvement of the civil protection system in response to the earthquake in the City of Zagreb, but also to increase the capacity of all involved in the field of civil protection;
- electronic manual with recommendations for the development and improvement of the civil protection system in response to an earthquake in the area of the City of Zagreb created and distributed;
- educational video for the general public on the topic of earthquakes, how much life-threatening they are, how to prepare and behave during earthquakes created and published on the Internet;
- 4 volunteers/university students successfully educated on the topics of earthquakes, organization of events within a project and provision of education to elementary school students;
- 60 elementary school students educated on the topic of earthquakes, how to prepare for and behave during earthquakes through 4 workshops.
